Welcome to a very special new blog category: Rides We Don’t Bike. You’re probably familiar with our “Bikes We Ride” posts, but hey, we can’t be all bikes ALL THE TIME!

Well we could…

Everyone’s talking about “Getting Shreddy” on bikes, but really that saying probably calls back to surfing, which makes skateboarding a close second. Sorry Bikes! That’s why our first Rides We Don’t Bike is Matt’s new skate.

But Matt SKATES?!

Yeah, the tallest guy in the shop also has the highest ollie too.

For reference that’s a 32oz Crowler (compliments of Portland Bottle Shop. What’s up!)

So what’s the build breakdown on Matt’s new skate?

  • Deck: New Deal “Siamese Double Kick Re-Issue”
  • Deck Length: 31″
  • Deck Width: 9.25″
  • Trucks: Ace 66s with 1/4″ risers
  • Hardware: Shortys
  • Wheels: 59mm Acid “Jelly Shots”
  • Bearings: yes, it has them
  • Extras: Pig Rails (for curbs and rail slides)

The deck was sourced from the rad Woodstock Ace Hardware that also has a Skate Shop in the corner! So Metal. Everything else came from our homies at CalSkate (Support local!)

We were out snapping pics for this post and the wind kept blowing our dang can over. Shoutout to our homie in the sprinter van with a “Sell-Wud” sticker in the window who lent us a couple of wood blocks for Matt to Ollie. Our neighbors are awesome.

This summer we’ll be taking donations to build a skatepark on the roof. Just don’t tell Tonkin.
