After a nearly 10 year absence Criterium racing returns to Portland with a fast, spectator-friendly course and a venue that’s fun for the whole family. We’re proud to be a partner of this year’s race with a maintenance tent, neutral support for racers, and all the bike fun enthusiasm we can muster!

Part bike race, part block party, the Portland Criterium kicks off on August 20th in the Northwest Park Blocks of Downtown Portland.

The Criterium style of bike racing is designed to be watched up close, with short laps (at 30+ mph) putting the racers directly in front of you every couple of minutes. Get a view of the group diving into each corner with a quick stroll around the course, or grab a front row spot at the finish line for the final sprint to glory.

Grab some bites from our food truck partners, enjoy a beer in the New Belgium beer garden, or duck into one of the many bars or restaurants in the neighborhood, watching this fast-paced style of racing unfold, lap after lap.

The first race starts at 1pm, with fields continuing throughout the afternoon, right up until dusk.

Those interested in riding, but not racing can challenge a friend during our BIKETOWN Street Sprints or join our Pedalpalooza social ride at 4:30pm for your chance to ride the course in your favorite Sportif garb.

We can always use additional volunteers for this community event. Please see the volunteer page on our website for more details.
