We are teaming up with SOLVE, and some great folks from the neighborhood to do clean up a few dump-sites along the Springwater Corridor. The event is scheduled from 9-11am on Saturday, April 6th.
We acknowledge the scope of work needed along the Springwater, and while we would love to tackle more for this event, our intent is to clean two pre-approved sites (non-active camps). As such we may have to limit the total number of volunteers so if you are interested in lending a hand please send an email to jake@sellwoodcycle.com
Please plan your attire appropriately. Thick soled shoes or work boots recommended, as well as work gloves (also plan for rain because Portland). The folks from SOLVE will be supplying those grabber tongs for picking up waste, safety vests, and trash bags. It should be said that there will also be safety protocols in place for dealing with sharps, and we’ll go over those that morning.
We will be meeting next to the railroad bridge at the bottom of Oaks Bottom Wildlife Refuge (Just North of the newly resurfaced section of the Springwater). If you ride a bike please be very conscientious of other Springwater users and do not block the path. Be sure to lock you bike up alongside the springwater. The registration table will be just off the path on the adjacent trail.
Again, please email us if you are interested in volunteering, and thank you!
