Over the years we have been fortunate to have a friendship with Stumptown Coffee Roasters. Some of you might recall our past posts on an exciting bikepacking trip we got to team up with Stumptown on, or possibly that time we outfitted their Headquarters with a fleet of loaner bikes. In turn Stumptown has been immensely generous over the years in supporting many of our races and rides with donations, and they even keep our shop caffeinated.
One thing many people might not know is that once a year several of our mechanics spend a day at Stumptown HQ to providing bicycle tuneups to every Stumptown Employee’s bicycle. We’re happy to have our mechanics set up a mini-shop in their parking lot, and the Stumptown employees are always generous by providing copious amounts of coffee to our mechanics throughout the day.
This last Monday saw Matt, Patrick, and Kaia underneath the Sellwood tent wrenching on bike after bike showing love to Stumptown. Some bikes came with a list of grievances to be addressed, and others just needed a little freshening up. With fresh donuts and a hot cup of coffee in hand it made for a lovely day’s work for these three.
Just over 30 bikes were given a tune-up and adjusted yesterday. Just a few more bikes than cups of coffee consumed. They even gave the Stumptown Fleet bikes some love while they were there.
We happen to think it’s a no-brainer that coffee and bikes would go so well together. As a bike shop with a staff full of cyclists it’s great to see such an active cycling culture at Stumptown too. Even on rainy days their bike storage room is packed full of bikes. So it goes without saying that we not only love Stumptown Coffee, but we also love their shared affection for cycling.
We always recommend a mid/pre/post ride coffee break, and Stumptown is obviously a darn-fine way to go. Swing into one of their cafes when you feel the need, or just ask us the next time you’re in and we’ll happily make you a fresh cup. Happy riding!
