Today we were honored to have students of p:ear‘s Bicycle Mechanic School in the shop. They’re finishing up this semester’s classes and putting the finishing touches on a bicycle that will be in a live auction as part of their upcoming p:earblossoms “Rites/Rights of Passage” benefit gala.

We’ve been proud to support p:ear‘s bicycle mechanic program and love seeing so many up-and-comers learn a deeper love and understanding of working on bicycles. Some of you might recall that we’ve mentioned p:ear a couple of times here in the past, but if you’re unfamiliar with the work they do you should really check them out. Their mentorship programs for homeless youth in Portland are truly inspirational.

If you are familiar with p:ear their Rites/Rights of Passage event might be the perfect opportunity for you to show your support. The list of items on their live auction is nothing short of stacked. The bicycle these kids are finishing up is amongst the prizes on the list and a lot of great folks have come together to make it extra special. p:ear has received donations from Sugar Wheel Works, Portland Design Works, Beebe Company, and ourselves. We won’t leak any finished photos just yet. Besides it’ll be worth waiting and seeing it in person.
