There’s so much darn good food in Sellwood it’s a daunting task to pick where you want to grab a bite to eat on your lunchbreak. But getting there and back in time is not a problem thanks to our little shop “Taco Bike”.

Sure, the words “Burrito Bike” sound better, but that’s an entirely different kind of bike.

A few of us came together on this build doing a deep dive into our parts bins. The foundation is obviously this amazing vintage chrome Univega BMX that Gram (formerly of the shop) had in his home bike pile.

Then some tastefully purple 20″ rims laced to OG Shimano BMX racing hubs in orange ano. Everyone has a set of these just kicking around, right? Held firmly in place with some knurled aluminum pegs. Perfect for when you’ve got a plus one on your lunch date.

The bike wouldn’t quite be complete with some monstrous Odyssey 1/2″ pedals. Does the red match anything else on the bike? No, but ask us if we care. 🙂

Because most of us are grown adults (even if we don’t act like it) a Redline layback seatpost was necessary. Yes, it will start to bend after a handful of rides, but that will only give it character.

And of course the bike needed a wald basket for carrying all the grub, and a little beverage holder for keeping our refreshments cold on the go.

If you’re looking for a solid recommendation on where to eat in Sellwood just look for the spot that has this bike parked out front. We wont steer you wrong.
